Our client, a leading public sector organisation, based in Belfast are looking to recruit a Advocacy Officer (EO2) join their team.

The role is available immediately 3 to 6 months

Hourly Pay: £13.52

37 hours per week Monday to Friday.

Key Responsibilities:

1 Legal Casework Support

  1. Acting as first point of contact for any incoming calls, visitors, queries or complaints.


  1. Managing individual enquiries from older people and the general public, signposting to the appropriate services or where necessary referring individuals to colleagues for support and assistance, and recording in the Enquiry Log.


  1. Managing a case load of enquiries which involves responding to enquiries and complaints ensuring all emails and correspondence are responded to, with any necessary follow up actions identified. Drafting replies to enquiries and complaints, signposting to other agencies as necessary.


  1. Collecting accurate and relevant information and prepare reports, attending meetings and representing in any appropriate organisational activity at the request of the Commissioner, Chief Executive or line manager.


  1. Alerting any safeguarding concerns to the Safeguarding Officer or line manager as and when concerns arise.


  1. Administrative Support


  1. Providing general administrative support to the Legal Team, and to other staff as and when required.


  1. Opening, scanning, logging and distribution of incoming mail and saving, logging and labelling (if appropriate) outgoing mail.


  1. Handling e-mails and managing the ‘Info’ mailbox, checking this regularly throughout the day, ensuring relevant emails are forwarded and recorded on the Enquiry Log, as necessary.


  1. Assisting with the co-ordination and organisation of meetings and associated materials, booking rooms, meeting and greeting visitors, organising hospitality (including obtaining quotes for outside catering), and making travel arrangements (where appropriate and in the absence of other Front Office staff).


  1. Assisting with the collation and timely distribution of information and other correspondence, to include typing, photocopying, binding, laminating, filing, recording of information as and when required.


  1. Providing weekly update reports and monthly meetings with Legal team to review activities.


  1. Ensuring filing systems are maintained and up to date.

Essential Criteria:

  1. A minimum of five GCSE passes at Grade C or above, or equivalent, which must include English Language and Maths and GCE ‘A’ level passes in 2 separate subjects.


  1. At least 2 years’ experience of working in a client-facing information, advice or administrative role. (OR, in the absence of the specified educational qualifications listed at 1 above, have four years relevant experience).


  1. Experience of dealing with confidential and sensitive information with tact, judgement and discretion.


  1. Experience of creating, managing and maintaining high quality records of contact and interaction with people


  1. A proven ability to provide clear and coherent information via the telephone in a way that is accessible to a broad client base.


  1. Experience of using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Microsoft 365.


  1. Possess, excellent verbal and written communications skills.


  1. An ability to maintain standards of work under pressure.


  1. An understanding of the rights of older people and the issues that matter most to them.
