Our client, a leading public sector organisation, based in Belfast are looking to recruit a Communications and Engagement Assistant (EO1) to join their team.
The role is available immediately for 3-6 months.
Hourly Pay: £14.92
37 hours per week Monday to Friday
Key Responsibilities:

Draft and publish information on the website.
-
Assist in the management of social media networks including drafting and planning content.

Support the CEM in drafting and distributing press releases.
-
Record media queries from journalists and communicate these accurately and effectively to the CEM.
-
Monitoring of media to include searching print and online news for items of relevance to the Commissioner and obtaining, recording and circulating relevant press and broadcast clippings for analysis.

Maintain centralised databases, ensuring existing contacts remain up to date and adding new contacts.

Assist with research and preparation of briefings, articles and speaking notes as required.

Assist with the production and distribution of promotional materials through email and other electronic mailing systems.

Support the CEM in the administration and organisation of events, internally and externally.

Accompany the Commissioner and/or other staff to events.
-
Provide administrative support to the CEM.

Co-ordinate correspondence, records and follow up actions of the CEM.

Assist the CEM in the co-ordination and organisation of meetings/events; managing invitations, venue/room bookings, hospitality, taking photos, providing support with event materials such as presentations and handouts and providing support on the day of the event and making travel arrangements if necessary.

Use DSLR camera at events as appropriate, set up projector and laptop in readiness for presentations.

Maintain Purchase Order log for Communications and Engagement function and follow financial procedures when purchasing products and services as requested by the CEM.

Deal effectively with telephone enquiries.

Deal with queries from staff and managers and research and retrieve information.

Assist with providing administrative support in Front Office when other administrative staff are on annual leave.
Essential Criteria:
Qualifications:
-
A minimum of five GCSE passes at Grade C or equivalent, which must include English Language and Maths.
AND
-
At least one year’s relevant experience of working in a communications, marketing or PR environment, where relevant is defined as possessing experience in ALL of the following areas:
-
Drafting copy for a range of communication purposes, eg, publications, media releases, website articles

Involved in the organisation of events
-
Maintaining websites and social media sites
-
Provision of administrative support including working with all MS Office packages, dealing with queries in person and by telephone, arranging meetings, handling correspondence, keeping records, both IT-based and manual.
OR
In the absence of the educational qualifications have 3 years relevant experience in all of the above areas 2a – 2d.
AND
-
Excellent oral and written communication skills, highly developed liaison and interpersonal skills and evidence of working as part of a team.
