Our client, a leading public sector organisation, based in Belfast are looking to recruit a Communications Officer to join their team.

The role is available immediately for 4 to 6 months.

Hourly Pay: £16.18

37 hours per week Monday to Friday

Key Responsibilities:

  • The post holder will contribute to the development and implementation of a Communication Strategy and Plan.

  • To be responsible for the oversight and review of the Website content and management

  • Co-ordinating and delivering communication activities on behalf of the Senior Management Team and advising on appropriate channels and timing of messages.

  • Support Grade 7 in building partnerships with external stakeholders to improve communications channels and deliver more effective messaging.

  • Establish working groups to review, plan, prioritise actions, and agree appropriate feedback mechanisms and appropriate means of communication.

  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders and where appropriate work together to tailor messages to target audiences.

  • Manage day to day communications including drafting and issuing a range of responses

  • Co-ordinate returns and requests for information on a range of areas.

  • Co-ordinate and plan corporate publications, including guidance and procedures for practitioners, Annual Reports, Business Plans, Director of Legal Aid Casework Annual Report, etc.

  • Provide leadership, motivating staff and taking responsibility to ensure that the teams within thesection support each other and work effectively together to achieve the directorate goals.

The post is likely to evolve and the postholder will require excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage conflicting demands in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.


Essential Criteria:

To be recruited directly into the role, the role holder will require a degree along with 12 months’ experience.

The characteristics and overall level of knowledge and skills, which have to be most commonly applied in this role, include:

  • Knowledge of management principles and business planning governance;

  • Strong ability to lead, direct, influence and persuade others to “buy in” to the development and delivery of service;

  • Experience of the various areas of work within Legal Services Agency and in particular Finance processes;

  • Effective communication skills;

  • Flexibility to deal with competing priorities is essential in supporting the DP, G6 and G5;

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and persuade;

  • Staff management skills including the ability to lead motivate and influence staff and maintain a positive working environment;
