Our client, a leading public sector organisation, based in Belfast are looking to recruit a Communications Officer (EO1) to join their team.

The role is available immediately until March 2022.

Hourly Pay: £14.47

37 hours per week Monday to Friday

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the day to day delivery of the Communication function.

  • Contribute to the implementation of the Communications Strategy and Plan.

  • Undertake daily media monitoring and disseminating to staff.

  • Assist with the press office function responding to reactive media enquiries.

  • Support the maintenance and updating the media management system

  • Assist with the dissemination of work / reports with a focus on highlighting the breadth of work and issues involved

  • Working with social media to develop a bank of key stakeholders across the three main social media sites.

  • Assist the maintenance of the website including routine updates such as Advice to Government and press releases

  • Support with the raising of Business Cases and Purchase Orders

  • On occasion, staff (including temporary staff) will be required to work outside the normal working week which may include evenings and weekends;

  • Staff (including temporary staff), on occasion, will be working with children and young people directly;

  • Undertake any other duties which may be reasonably required as requested.


Essential Criteria:


  • Applicants must have a 3rd level qualification in a relevant subject area and at least 12 months relevant experience in a Communications role.


  • Have at least 2 years relevant experience in a Communications role.



  • Experience in building effective relationships with various stakeholders to include media;


  • Excellent oral and written communications skills and ability to work as part of a team.


  • Good working knowledge of IT, online and social media platforms
