Our client, a leading public sector organisation, based in Belfast are looking to recruit a Development Officer to join their team.

The role is available immediately for 5 months, with possibility of extension.

Hourly Pay: £16.18

37 hours per week Monday to Friday (currently working from home)

Key Responsibilities:

  • To develop, launch and implement new programmes that support and enable the implementation of outcomes described in (draft) Corporate Plan 2020-25.

 

  • To provide advice and guidance to external partners in respect of club and community sport policy developments and identify implications for sport.

 

  • To work in partnership across the public, private and community/voluntary sectors to formulate appropriate policy and strategic responses to improve club and community sport in Northern Ireland.

 

  • To identify and disseminate examples of good practice in the development and delivery of club and community sport in Northern Ireland.

 

  • To produce, and enhance existing, best practice guidelines on the development, delivery and management of sustainable club and community sport programmes in a variety of settings and, in particular, for under-represented groups (women/girls, people with a disability, those living in areas of highest social need and ethnically diverse groups).

 

  • To manage the delivery of a number of club and community sport programmes and investments.

 

  • To identify and implement opportunities for innovation, increased efficiency and improved effectiveness in the delivery of investment programmes.

 

  • To comply with policies, processes and procedures (including. Procurement, performance management and HR)

 

  • To actively contribute to the work of Sports Directorate.

 

  • To ensure effective monitoring, reporting and evaluation of all projects and programmes for which the postholder has a responsibility.

 

  • To take an active part in the Annual Performance Review and Training and Development planning process.

 

  • To carry out any other duties that, from time to time, may reasonably be undertaken in the pursuit of the post’s overall objectives.

Essential Criteria:

  • At least two years full-time (or part time equivalent) demonstrable employment experience of sports development (gained in any of the following – sport (NGB or club); local/central government; education; community/charitable sector

 

  • At least two years (FTE) demonstrable experience of initiating and developing innovative and sustainable partnerships & collaborative working

 

  • At least two years (FTE) demonstrable experience of grant management (including the development & management of budgets) within agreed policy

 

  • Access to a form of transport that will permit the applicant to meet the requirements of the post in full.

 

  • The ability to work flexible hours including occasional evenings and weekends

 

  • Demonstrable written, oral communication and presentation skills (in particular the use of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)

 

  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team

Desirable Criteria:

  • Demonstrable experience of line management of staff
