MAIN DUTIES/PURPOSE OF POST

Carry out home safety checks identifying areas of risk within the home and
providing information and advice to help reduce the number of accidents in
the home.
2. Carry out a needs assessment, provide approved equipment on this basis,
and ensure that residents know how to use it safely to reduce their risk of
accidental injury.
3. Make appropriate referrals to statutory agencies such as NIFRS,
Occupational Therapists etc on the basis of a needs assessment and with the
consent of the resident.
4. Maintain written records of each home safety visit and complete computer
records for the RoSPA/MARA database.
5. Meet targets for home visits in each Council area based on Service Level
Agreements with PHA and other relevant agencies, giving priority to those at
most risk.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
REQUIRED

5 GCSEs Grade C or above (incl. English Language) or equivalent &
minimum of 1 year’s relevant experience OR 3 years’ relevant experience
Relevant experience: engaging with families with children under 5/older
people in their home/residential/community, or responsibility/enforcement
experience of health and safety in a workplace including risk assessment
Excellent communication and IT skills
