Our client, a leading public sector organisation, is looking to recruit an Interim Communications Officer to be based in Belfast.

The role is available immediately for 6 months.

Hours: 37 per week Monday to Friday 9-5

Pay rate: £16.18 per hour

Working alongside the Unit Manager/Director, the Job Holder will be responsible for the following areas and activities:

Develop, implement and evaluate a pro-active Public Relations Campaign aimed at improving awareness of the organisation’s product among the domestic market.
Work with the Communications Manager, Marketing Team and Senior Management Team to develop a programme of engagement with key media to include meetings, briefings and visits to key projects.
Work with Unit Manager/Director and relevant third-parties, such as production companies, and other, to deliver broadcast opportunities.
Generate a full programme of media familiarisation visits (FAMs) with key media and stakeholders.
Work alongside marketing teams to ensure processes and procedures are in line with guidelines.
Develop existing and new media contacts and regularly review for relevance and currency. Maintain PR press lists for regular mail-outs.
Liaise closely with the Dublin Office to share content and planning and message alignment.
Liaise closely with the wider Marketing Division to align PR activity with marketing campaign plans.
Proactively respond to consumer media enquiries in a timely and professional manner.
Work alongside the Divisional Director to deliver projects aligned with the Unit Operating Plan, Domestic Market Review Strategy and Recovery Strategy. Provide Line Management responsibilities for employees within the Unit including

 

Essential Criteria:

OPTION 1

  1. A 3rd level qualification in PR / Communications / Marketing / or related field.

AND

  1. A minimum of 2 years’ project management experience in PR / Communications / Marketing / Media including a strong working knowledge of new media technologies.

AND

  1. A minimum of 2 years’ experience managing resources, including staff and budgets within the public and/or private sector.

OPTION 2

  1. A minimum of 4 years’ project management experience in PR / Communications / Marketing / Media including a strong working knowledge of new media technologies..

AND

  1. A minimum of 4 years’ experience in managing resources, including staff and budgets within the public and/or private sector.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA – PERSONAL EFFECTIVENESS

The Job Holder will also possess a high standard of:

  1. Excellent communication, presentation and creative writing skills – oral and written, including the ability to communicate accurately and effectively.
