ROLE PURPOSE
Undertake routine engineering and building maintenance and minor repair work that does
not justify the attention of a fully qualified maintenance craftsperson, relating to his / her
training and / or experience.

MAIN DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
(1) Learn minor work of assistants in other trades as required
(2) Use relevant tools and equipment
(3) Demonstrate a basic knowledge of workshop safety practices
(4) Assist higher skilled grades on new work and repairs
(5) Perform other routine work requiring little or no skill, including engineering / building
labouring, as needed
(6) Drive either a board vehicle or own private car as required in connection with his
duties
(7) Read and record meter readings as required
(8) Carryout routine checks on critical pieces of services, plant and equipment
(9) Flexible and self-motivated.
(10) This job description is not definitive and the duties may be amended as the post
develops

GENERAL DUTIES
1. Employees of the Trust will be required to promote and support the mission and
vision of the service for which they are responsible.
2. Develop and maintain good communication with all levels of management and build
partnerships with the wider HPSS, NHS and external organizations in the promotion
of the Trust.
3. Carry out their duties and responsibilities in compliance with health and safety policy
and statutory regulations.
4. Participate in the grievance and disciplinary processes as required.
5. Promote equality of opportunity through his/her own actions and ensure this policy is
adhered to by staff for whom he/she has responsibility.

Requirements

3 GCSEs Grade A-C or equivalent to include English Language
AND
1 year relevant experience working in a Building
Services Maintenance Environment which must
include experience of operating hand and power
tools safely

OR
Two years’ experience working in a Building
Services Maintenance Environment which must
include experience of operating hand and power
tools safely

Hold a current full driving licence which is valid for
use in the UK and have access to a car on
appointment.
