In the absence of the Payroll Supervisor ensure that all appropriate procedures are carried out in accordance with agreed schedules in line with Council Policies and Procedures.
Work in conjunction with the Payroll Supervisor in the delivery of the Payroll functions and associated expenses including processing, validating, and generating Bank Automated Clearing System (BACS) in compliance with Pay as You Earn (PAYE), Superannuation Scheme, including legislative, statutory, regulatory requirements and Council’s procedures.
To be responsible for the collation, processing, checking and inputting the costs of timesheets for payroll processes.
To maintain accurate payroll records for both new and existing employees
To process Real Time Information for HMRC and Automatic Enrolment Pension returns for NILGSOC, in accordance with their regulations.
Prepare and calculate statutory and miscellaneous payments e.g. Holiday Pay and Pay-in-Lieu of Notice and process redundancy payments in accordance with regulations.
To process payments for overtime. To calculate and process payments for shift allowances, enhanced weekend & evening working, honorariums, acting up payments and arrears in accordance with council policies.
To be conversant with, interpret and implement income tax, national insurance, superannuation, SSP, SMP, SPP and Student Loan requirements etc. To calculate, update records and process these payments / deductions through the computerised payroll system.
You will have:
5 GCSEs or equivalent including English and Maths (C and above)
Previous experience in a similar role
