Project Manager – Northern Ireland Civil Service – Loughs agency
Location – Derry – Londonderry (hybrid working )

Salary – £16.80ph per hour

Hours of work: 37 per week. Full time. Monday to Friday. 9am to 5pm.

Duration: 3 months with possible extension.

Job Description including Main Duties / Purpose of Job/Function of Role

MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY INCLUDE:

  • Delivery of the Wet Woods Project, working in partnership to implement nature based solutions to protect waterways in support of fisheries management;

  • Finalising the delivery of the Transnational River Access and Recreation Project, working in partnership with local Councils and Local Action Groups (LEADER funded) in the delivery a series of small projects that facilitate better access to the rivers and recreation opportunities within the Derry City and Strabane District Council and Donegal County Council areas;

  • Assist in the delivery of the Review of Marine Tourism within the Foyle and Carlingford areas;

  • Research and identify funds from a variety of funding sources including charitable trusts, foundations, lottery bodies, corporate organisations, EU Programmes and government departments for specific projects and Agency priorities;

  • Provide regular reporting of development activity including analysis and evaluation, making recommendations and implementation of resulting changes to ensure improvement and ongoing success;

  • Plan, organise and carry out the promotion of Loughs Agency related events, seminars, workshops, stakeholder forums, focus groups etc. both internally and externally, in accordance with the Agency’s PR and Communications Strategies;

  • Assist the CEO, Director of Development and all other Directors with duties relevant to the successful implementation of the Agency’s Business and Development plan;

  • Manage budgets for individual projects and programmes in compliance with Agency’s financial systems and programme specific requirements from funding bodies;

  • Prepare reports, correspondence, financial data, statistical information, returns etc. as necessary and report the findings to the Director of Development;

  • Attend relevant meetings and working groups as necessary and progress any issues arising;

  • Carry out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities within the overall function, commensurate with the grading and level of responsibilities of the post.

 

Criteria: 

  • Essential Experience/Qualifications required. (This should be kept to a minimum to have a broader selection of suitable candidates)

  • A third level qualification relevant to the post or alternatively, have 5 years proven experience and knowledge of a wide range of funding techniques, with demonstrable success in identifying sources of funding, making funding applications, project implementation, management and evaluation.

  • Applicants must have 3 years proven experience and knowledge of a wide range of funding techniques, with demonstrable success in identifying sources of funding, making funding applications, project implementation, management and evaluation.

  • Applicants must have experience of liaising with Government Departments, community, voluntary and statutory sectors.

  • Proven ability to plan, manage and deliver substantial projects on time and within budget.

  • Applicants must hold a full current driving licence by the closing date and have a mode of transport suitable for travel in relation to this job with a willingness to travel and to work at evenings and weekends when required.

  • Desired Experience/ Qualifications.

  • A post graduate or professional qualification relevant to the post.

  • Prince 2 Project Management qualification or equivalent.

  • Experience of developing cross border programmes.

  • Experience of developing strategic development plans.
