Scientific Officer – Lisburn

Post initially for 9 months (possible extension)

£14.92 per hour

Job duties:

Provide input data to Ministerial Submissions, AQWs, FOIs and Press Offices queries when required and in a timely manner.

Implement and manage changes to the Water Pollution Hotline Service including updating holiday arrangements.

Produce statistics to feed into Annual Stats & Enf report and assist in its publication by Sept each year Ensure the Water Pollution Hotline is answered between 9-5

Organise business support eg business cards and warrant cards for field staff

Use of ArcGIS and Pollution Incident Management System (PIMS) for information retrieval when requested by senior staff, businesses and the public.

Investigate and maintain the quality of the data in PIMS

Take part in the rota for answering the incident hotline and dealing with incidents

Maintain personal health and safety requirements.

You will have:

4 GCE/GCSE ‘O’ levels, grades A-C, in separate subjects. These must include English, Mathematics and a science subject

Valid driving licence

6 months relevant practical experience in the last 5 years of working in a scientific field related to water quality or water pollution. Experience may be gained in academic/voluntary or work-related fields.
