Our client, a leading public sector organisation, based in Belfast are looking to recruit a Staff Officer to join their team.

The role is available immediately for 6 months.

Hourly Pay: £16.18

37 hours per week Monday to Friday

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring and managing all requests made and overseeing compliance.
  • Acting as a contact point for data subjects
  • Management of processes relating to applications made, ensuring adequate oversight of cases as they progress through the system, first point of escalation of queries relating to IHR and IOD applications and the collation and provision to branch management of weekly figures and operational updates.
  • Develop an understanding of the relevant legislation
  • Quality control and drafting of correspondence
  • Oversight of the SMP appointment process ensuring all appointments are made in a timely manner, relevant stakeholders informed and appropriate correspondence is issued.
  • The current situation with COVID-19 has required a high degree of flexibility in relation to how we approach our work and necessarily requires constant review in light of updated advice from the Public Health Agency (PHA). As such the Staff Officer will be required to keep a watching brief on changing circumstances affecting the branch and will have the ability to re-prioritise workloads at short notice as required and dependent on the particular circumstances.
  • Further to the above, the SO will also be responsible, in consultation with branch management, for the drafting of any future process amendments resulting from emergent issues impacting the branch.


Essential Criteria:

  • Good communication skills – both oral and written;
  • At least one year’s experience of managing and responding to requests;
  • Proven experience of building effective partnerships and forging, maintaining and managing constructive working relationships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders to deliver desired outcomes;
  • Demonstrate experience in a public, private or voluntary role which includes responsibility for managing staff, monitoring project delivery and effectiveness, and resources;
  • Demonstrate experience of working with Committees/Boards and Senior Management within a public, private or voluntary organisation (
  • Have experience of preparing and presenting briefings, papers and reports to senior management and external audiences; and
  • Good IT skills and experience of using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook;
  • Good attention to detail, time management and organisational skills;
  • An ability to work under pressure, and planning/prioritising workloads on a daily basis;


    • Experience of working in a role requiring regular consideration and application of the provisions of legislation;
    • Demonstrate a flexible, adaptable approach and have experience contributing to the function of a small close knit team to meet the requirements of an organisation;
    • Demonstrate experience of working in an oversight body
